Joe Riggs, Group President of K. Hovnanian Homes, is responsible for the company's homebuilding operations in five states. Riggs joined the company in 1993 as a Division President. In 1999, he was promoted to Region President. In 2002, he assumed his present duties.
Riggs graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Lawrence University in 1973. After graduation, he became the President of the Bowling Green Golf Course in Oak Ridge, N.J. In 1982 he became President of Swedeland Forge Associates, a medium-sized homebuilder.
Riggs serves as a Policy Advisory Board member for the Harvard Joint Center for Housing
Studies. He is currently serving on the Governor's Real Estate Advisory Board and is an active member and a past president of the New Jersey Builders Association. He also served on the Highlands Task Force and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Permit Efficiency Task Force. He has received numerous industry awards, including "Builder of the Year." He served as a member of the Planning Board and the Board of Adjustment in Jefferson Township, Morris County, N.J. He is also a past president of the Board of Trustees for the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge, N.J. and has served numerous terms as a church elder.
